Questions & answers

Everything people ask before switching to us

Straight answers about transfers, insurance, delivery and refills. If yours isn’t here, call us — a pharmacist will actually pick up.

New patients

How do I send my prescription to Mega Health Rx?

Every doctor can send prescriptions to Mega Health Rx. They can call us at (516) 304-5038 or send us a prescription electronically. Once it’s ready, we’ll give you a call or text to set up a pickup or delivery.

Will there be a gap in my medication?

No. We time the transfer so your new medication(s) are ready before your current one runs out. If you’re running low right now, give us a call and we’ll prioritize it — in most cases we can get you covered as soon as a new refill is sent in.

Do I have to call my old pharmacy?

Let us handle it. You give us the name of your current pharmacy and we handle every phone call and fax from there.

How long does the transfer take?

Usually the same day. We call your current pharmacy, request your prescription refills, and confirm everything with you before anything is filled. Occasionally it takes a little longer if there are no refills remaining and we need to reach your doctor — we’ll keep you posted either way.

What if I have no refills left?

We contact your doctor's office and request a renewal on your behalf. You don't have to chase anyone. This is one of the most common reasons people end up without their medication, and it's exactly the kind of thing we take off your plate.

Can I move just some of my prescriptions?

Of course. We prefer to have all your refills ready on time, but you may start with one or two and move the rest at another time. There’s no requirement to bring everything at once.

Does switching cost anything?

No. Transferring is free, and your copay is set by your insurance plan, not by us.

Can you transfer my controlled medication?

Sometimes. Controlled medications follow stricter federal rules than ordinary prescriptions, and some cannot be transferred between pharmacies at all. Call us with the medication name and we'll tell you straight away what's possible in your case.

Insurance and cost

Do you take my insurance?

We accept most plans, including patients currently filling at CVS, Walgreens, Duane Reade and Vivo Health Pharmacy. If you’re not sure, call us with your card in hand and we’ll check it.

Will my copay be different than at my old pharmacy?

Your copay is set by your insurance plan, not the pharmacy, so for most medications it will be the same amount you're paying now.

Do you accept Medicare and Medicaid?

We accept most Medicare Part D and Medicaid plans. Call us to confirm your specific plan before you transfer, so there are no surprises.

What if I don't have insurance?

Generics start as low as $4.99. Discount programs and cash pricing vary by medication, but our patients come first, so we’ll make sure non-insured patients receive the best deals.

Free delivery

Is delivery really free?

Yes. Free delivery anywhere in New York City, with no minimum order, no delivery fee and no membership.

How fast is it?

Same day in most of the city. When you place a refill we'll tell you when to expect it.

Do I need to be home?

We hand deliver your medications to you. There just needs to be someone — a friend, doorman or colleague — to sign and receive the medication when it arrives. Controlled substance medications require a signature.

Can I still pick up in store instead?

Of course. Delivery is an option, not a requirement — pick up at the counter whenever you prefer.

Refills

How do I request a refill?

We use smart refills so our patients never have to worry about their medications being sent on time. Our patients can use the refill form on this site, text us, or call us to request a refill.

Do you do automatic refills?

Yes. We track your refill dates and reach out to your doctor before you run out, so you're not the one keeping the calendar.

What if I've already run out?

Call us. Say that you're out rather than low, and we'll treat it as urgent.

At the pharmacy

Can I talk to a pharmacist in private?

Yes. We have a private consultation room with a door that closes — not a window with a line behind you. Ask at the counter any time, no appointment needed.

Do I need an appointment for a vaccine?

No. Walk in for flu, COVID-19, shingles, pneumonia, RSV, TDAP and more.

What else can I do here besides prescriptions?

Blood pressure checks, blood sugar testing, flu and COVID testing, medical supplies, DMV vision tests, notary public, money orders, bill pay and the OTC Network benefit card.

Can I text the pharmacist a question?

Yes — exclusive to our patients, we offer a direct line to text our pharmacist.

Is my information secure?

Your information is safe with us, both inside the pharmacy and on our website. Your data is held in an encrypted, HIPAA-compliant environment.

Still not sure?

Call and ask. No hold queue, no phone tree — you’ll get a pharmacist who can look at your specific situation.
