Text Message Terms

What you're agreeing to when you give us your mobile number, and how to stop messages at any time.

Effective date: July 29, 2026

The short version. We text you about your prescriptions. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to cancel or HELP for help. Consent is not a condition of purchase or of receiving care.

1. Our text message program

Mega Health Rx Pharmacy (“we”, “us”) operates a text messaging program for patients who give us their mobile number. If you opt in, we may text you about:

  • A prescription being ready for pickup
  • The status of a transfer or refill request
  • A refill coming due, or a prescription running out of refills
  • Delivery updates, including when a driver is on the way
  • Questions from a pharmacist about your prescription
  • Replies to questions you text us

2. How you opt in

You opt in by ticking the text message box on our transfer or refill form, by texting us first, or by telling a member of staff in the pharmacy. We keep a record of when and how you consented.

Consent is not a condition of purchase. You do not have to agree to texts to fill a prescription with us, to transfer to us, or to receive delivery. If you would rather we called you, say so and we will.

3. Message frequency and cost

Message frequency varies and depends on your prescriptions — there is no fixed number per month. Message and data rates may apply according to your plan with your mobile carrier. We do not charge you anything for texts.

4. How to stop messages

Reply STOP to any message and we will stop texting you. You can also reply CANCEL, END, QUIT, UNSUBSCRIBE, OPT OUT or REVOKE — we honour all of them.

You do not have to use a keyword. You may withdraw consent by any reasonable method — tell us on the phone, reply to a text in your own words, email us, or tell us at the counter. We will act on your request promptly and in no event later than ten business days after we receive it.

We will send one final message confirming that you have been unsubscribed. Stopping texts does not affect your prescriptions, and we will contact you by phone instead where we need to reach you about your medication.

5. Getting help

Reply HELP to any message, or call us on (516) 304-5038.

6. Health information in text messages

This matters, so please read it.

Ordinary text messages are not a secure or encrypted channel. Messages can be seen by anyone with access to your phone, may appear on your lock screen, and may be stored by your mobile carrier. If you opt in, you are asking us to contact you this way and accepting that risk.

We keep the health information in our texts to the minimum necessary — we will not list your medications in a message where a simple “your prescription is ready” will do. If you would prefer we did not mention prescriptions at all by text, tell us and we will note it on your record.

You may ask us at any time to contact you by a different method or at a different number. That is a right you have under HIPAA, described in our HIPAA Notice of Privacy Practices.

7. Marketing messages

We will not send you promotional or marketing texts unless you have separately agreed to receive them. Opting in to prescription messages does not opt you in to marketing.

8. Supported carriers and delivery

Our program is supported by major US mobile carriers. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. We cannot guarantee that any individual message will arrive, so please do not rely on texts alone for anything time-critical — if you need your medication urgently, call us.

9. Keeping your number current

Tell us if your mobile number changes. If a number is reassigned to someone else and we are not told, messages intended for you may reach a stranger.

10. Your privacy

We do not sell your phone number. We do not share it with advertisers or with anyone for their own marketing. We share it only with the service provider that delivers our messages, which is bound by a written agreement to protect your information. See our Privacy Notice and HIPAA Notice of Privacy Practices for more.

11. Changes

We may update these terms. The current version is always posted on this page.
